5 door hatch is the way to go. It's great for a first car, you can fit sooo much booze in the boot!

I LOVE IT!! my dad used to have one abotu 5-6 years ago but in red, was a lovely car, never broke, kept right on going. he eventually sold it for scrap because someone drove straight into the side of it when he left parked at work. boy was he pissed off.. :D if the stereo in that is a blaupunkt one then it appears we still have it :P...something went wrong with it and so we took it out with the intention of fixing it and putting it back in...we never did lol...:D
Mad::Matt
03-04-2008, 11:10 PM
Yeah stereo is a tape-playing Blaupunkt. Not a bad one, just doesn't play CD's XD
Which is why mines in the garage and a CD players in the car :D

Ah more pictures. And more of an artistic attempt.
Sort of.
Hmm anyway.
Been somewhat rallying-ish.
Ok farm roads. Pssh. Mahoosive puddles that quite frankly people would have called me mad for even thinking about driving through, but I ploughed on, and through.
http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/3615/imag2789qz7.jpg
Before anyone points out the churned up tracks behind the car leading to the wheels, yes they were caused by me being handbrake happy :D

Oof I bloody love that!
In fact, I will be changing the grill, and I never thought of doing it like that.
Old chop I did to see what it'd look like:
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5876/grilltestlw3.jpg
I was planning on doing the middle one, but I might do it the way you have on that pic.
What rims are they btw? Look ace on it.
Probs be flaring the arches too, will chop it tbh, s'ok if I use the rims you've used?

Right, I'm back, with grill modifications :D
My Bluebird is the T72 model (later model) and as such comes with the cross shaped grill.
I've been to the salvage yard and picked up the grill from a T12 (model before mine).
Here goes:
From the beginning, heres the nasty state the grill was in:
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/1408/grilluncleankr0.jpg
To which I cleaned lots:
http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/8606/grillcleanedmk4.jpg
Filled in the silly gappy bits at the end:
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1966/endsfilledvb5.jpg
Painted with primer:
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/2103/primeredge1.jpg
Then whilst that was drying I cleaned up the badge:
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/4199/badgebeforepaintpw4.jpg
And:
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/950/badgeafterpaintwu5.jpg
I don't have a pic of it on the pole being silver, heres the original grill (top) and the cleaned up T12 one:
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/5973/bothgrillssx2.jpg
And on the car:

Great work there Matt, a real improvement on the other grill :) Now, lets see it slammed with some retro jap styling!
nicely done.
can still see some of the gappy bits though, paint looks a bit different to the rest.
why dont you cut out the slats and fill it , then put some fine black mesh behind it

Explain more Mr Petey!
Oh aye, general note, I've also resprayed the hubcaps, colour coded that bit of black plastic trim between the rear arch and the door shut line. I debadged the original grill, filled in near side rear arch dent, and a stone chip on the offside passenger door.

Thats a minter m8
u hardly see them round these days
well not where i live anyway
the only time i c them is when i go out banger racing
theres loads of um out there, and last for ages lol
Mad::Matt
06-05-2008, 10:45 PM
Right.
I've been playing with the grill again.
The original grill. Its had the centre piece chopped out, like the chop done by Summat on the previous page.
On to the pics!
This is the original grill, debadged and pretty much as is.
http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2875/imag2826te2.jpg
Onto the chopping! One dremelly thing later, and we have a choppy outty bit. And no, its not floating, its on the bit of glass I put up to stop bits of plastic hitting me in the face :D
http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/2752/imag2827em4.jpg
I then glued pieces of plastic under the gaps, both to provide strength, and something for the filler to sit against.
Clampage:
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/1816/imag2828hy3.jpg
Then I decided I wanted some choons, so I set about with my ghetto CD player. The fact that the speakers were against a metal cabinet gave it cool bass echo.
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/3825/imag2829qa6.jpg
Heres the plastic pieces sans clamps:
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/9267/imag2830xz6.jpg
And the staple of every garage during a project. Coffee! :D
http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/6782/imag2831so5.jpg
Now, I don't claim to be the master of body filler, and I never will make that claim, so no funny comments about how shit my filler work is. All I can say is at least I apply and work with it better than chavs do to their cars.
http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/9674/imag2832wb1.jpg
And this is as far as I've got with the sanding, just the bottom slat, and that needs more to it anyway, so more pics tomorrow, when it shall be paintified!

Looking good Mad::Matt :)
its gonna look good if u tint the blinkers in the bumper.
Mad::Matt
06-06-2008, 11:07 PM
Right, more done today :D
After lots and lots of sanding. Seriously stupid amounts.
http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/7956/imag2834zk1.jpg
http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/5274/imag2835ml4.jpg
Then there were a few marks from air bubbles that had caused dips in the filler, so I mixed up a little more and filled them in. Whilst it was curing, I had a cig and made smoke rings:
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/6918/imag2836qt5.jpg
Sanded it all back, and got some paint on. I forgot to take pics of the primer.
Ignore the pink sheet, its just to protect stuff XD
http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/8997/imag2837ie0.jpg
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/3678/imag2838ac9.jpg
The paint has run a little bit, and a few lines are still visible, so needs a bit of sanding and repainting to get it looking better.

Right. Its on the car :D
I resanded it today, and repaired a crack that had appeared in the filler, and gave it two coats of paint.
http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/7339/imag2841qr5.jpg
http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/2069/imag2840lc4.jpg
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/7853/imag2839nb3.jpg
Gonna get some fine black mesh to go behind the grill too.
Also, the speakers that are further up this page, are now in the car, as I've replaced the rear speakers, cause the standard ones were both shit, and the seals had disintegrated.

http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/9352/imag2846qc9.jpg
And some more Dubbage in the form of other mate Toms T2 camper :P (some muppet taking the photo moved a bit though XD)
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2599/imag2881uc0.jpg
That camper is a bugger to drive though, had a go round the car park, very weird driving position tbh.
Owner of the Polo (Chris) took over the Bluebird... Bloody poser XD
