Sooo, I bought my lovely little Saxo Vtr, which was a massive step up from my 206
I got it and it was like this:
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/8122/saxo4ap5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
All standard, etc
I then set to mod it, i had low funds, so, i took the grill off, stripped it, primed it, sprayed it black then laquered it....
The results where great, and after a good clean, it looked like this:
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9999/img3567hh3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Dirty saxo ftw:
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8844/mycar1cp2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I collected my smoked front lights and 50mm springs tonight, so the lights will be done tomorrow, and the springs after xmas when i can afford it.
Also soon, i plan a forced raceland enclosed induction kit, refurd my vtr wheels in black, and a full magnex system.

what does "laquered" mean? i love the way ypur grill looks
great little car :)
^^I think he went over the plastic parts with shiny black paint...
Philip

Its basically a clear coat that you put over whatever colour
It makes it shiney-er
LMAO
I cant wait to fit my front lights, arrgghhh
why cant YOU fit the springs? are you a complete fucktard and dont know how? XD
LOL @ paying people to fit them
also , paint the wheels yourself , just put it on bricks for the day while they dry.
rather than paying someone else to do the exact same thing!!

Its hardly the weather to be spraying wheels yourself in the garden in is it lol.
Philip
12-17-2007, 01:14 PM
Pete you gimp
1- spraying wheels PROPERLY can take up to 3 days, you have let prep everything properly and let primer etc dry.
2- I would do the front myself, but the backs a torsion bar, which can easily get fucked up.
So shush boy and get to the age where you can drive a car legally!
Anyhow, front lights are fitted, took me about an hour, never done a saxo before, so thats why it took so long, plus, i hate those little white clips on those little panels under the lights.
They freakin snapped! :D

The black on black is a good look. One of the guys at work had this rims done is black chrome from the silver that they came stock with. Looks so good, see if you can find out how much that cost, it's a good alternative to just paint...
cheers

Theres been a few sets of eurorims going on Sax-p, the only problem was that they were £600+ quid
My sunroof is leaking atm, so its all taped up, fucking french shite xD
Thanks for the comments anyway guys, if all goes well, it should be getting serviced, fixed and lowered next week!

Cheers matey, was out in it before at a sax-p meet and it sounds awesome when its warmed up :D
good size u have there, haha
is it just a back box, why did you not go for a full system
Philip
02-02-2008, 08:50 PM
cheers man
I didnt go for a full one as its a mk2 vtr, it has its cat in the manifold, so theres no need to take out center boxes etc.
Alot of people with the same car leave cent-boxes in etc, just as there not much point in removing it :)
cool. so i take it you get after markey exaust manafoilds with-out them.
you got anymore plans or u happy with the power fairly stock.
Philip
02-02-2008, 09:10 PM
Yeah, you can get magnex systems with the center box in too, lol.
Im planning to get a manifold, either 4-1 or 4-2-1 with the cat IN, a forced induction kit put on and a remapping hopefully.
Plus other mods like;
lowering 50mm (already got springs)
Smoked backlights
Set of Black and White VTS alloys (yes, 2 sets)
2 bucket seats
roll cage
then mayyyybe a CF bonnet painted with a light black so its darker
r they just lowering springs or coli's to
your plans sound good, dont see allot of simple saxos around most i see anyway have kits, old styling.
anyway yours will be good get some power down on it.
i rember seeing a saxo from saxotuning or somthing like that cant rember their name but it was in maxpower and it had a turbo kit on it. it was the only saxo i liked lol
Philip
02-02-2008, 09:22 PM
Yeah, thanks man
There's quite a few fast saxos around these days, alot have been turbo'd or supercharged, some saxos even have kinda engines in the back, LOL
crazy, RWD too!
yep. one car that im looking out for is a twin engined carrado on cgti lol, a 40vt if u add them together.
Matty
02-03-2008, 12:25 AM

Cant get coilys for a Saxo, as its torsion bars on back.
Saxo engines are hard to get power out of. Only way to get decent power hikes in turbo/supercharger.
Matty
02-03-2008, 01:29 PM
Fuck off piss take.
Not true, some engines ca get big power hikes from just changing the cams(even mild cams)/remapping.
Come back when you've learnt something.
Philip
02-03-2008, 01:32 PM
LOL at matty!
I dunno if the exhaust is hanging a tad low, might go out and have a look, or leave it till the week.
Im scared I will get crushed by a tree if i go outside atm, g0t wind? :|
Matty
02-03-2008, 01:36 PM
There was no need to be cocky.
Not all engines need turbo'd etc to get big power hikes.
106 GTI lumps are the best. I've seen a fair few with just Mild Cams + Remap with power gains of around 40+ HP.
Yet I've seen some cars turbo'd with only 30/40 hp gains.
plus theres all that malarky of huge carbs , skimming , boring etc.
probably a bad thing to do , bolting a turbo onto a stock engine..
philly , it does look a bit low , but like i said , just paint it black n u wont be able to tel :P
Matty
02-03-2008, 04:43 PM
Yeah, most people don't realise when you're going to turbo a car you need:
Forged Pistons
Strengthend Block
New Manifold - 4 - 1
Stand Alone ECU
New air in take
New sensors for; Turbo, 'cooler, air/fuel mixer etc etc
New stronger head gasket, + while the heads off it should be skimmed.
erm to go big power u do need forced introduction, even with a fully done up engine you will still go alott futher with a system. and sorry for the cockneys come out wrong lol.
lol but who need big power on the road, a fast road set-up (stage 2-3) is decent depending on the car obvisly. Personally i would rather have a well balanced car for the back road, its just stupid speeding in town, like today i saw some arse in a mitsi strlet who was pulling up to the lights in a right hand turn and then speeding of infront of people who were going straght on but insted of turning right just cut them up.
Matty
02-03-2008, 11:34 PM
What ever car you have, you'll want more power.
I learnt that after about 5days of passing my test.
I mean don't get me wrong, my car is really nippy for a 1.1
Its not quick, but nippy.

02-04-2008, 12:19 AM

N/A tuned Carb engines FTW
427 Kustoms
02-05-2008, 05:16 AM
With the motors in my bmws i keep them both with carbies. My race car has twin 45 webers that i removed the injection to fit. Carbies are much easier to tune then most other types of induction.
I wouldn't suggest putting a turbo straight on. You'd blow the engine up, you need to put much stronger parts in. Start with higher compression pistons, aggressive cams, port and polish the head and get a nice set of headers with a big pip out the back. By a big pipe i don't mean a fart can, something like a 2" pipe all the way (if it fits)
Philip
02-05-2008, 10:09 AM
Whats all this turbo business?
Im not wasting 1k+ altogether on a turbo for this

Matty

Philip

I know someone who has a turbo impreza engine, ive researched it and it will go into the back...
Its been done with honda engines etc.
BUT
Id have no weight at the front?
:/
Matty
02-05-2008, 10:30 AM
Put some weight on the front, you'd have to welt in some metal anyway, as you're tyaking the engine out. So the structres losing some strength.
Philip
02-05-2008, 11:02 AM
Its so tempting, the guy said he'd do it cheap for me if i put some stickers on my car advertising his garage, lol!
Itd be so immense :)
Dafyddla
02-05-2008, 12:23 PM
Would be good for a couple weeks untill you warp your head or something. Turbos are gay as fuck they break alot, need alot of servicing to stop them from fucking up and you will probably only blow your engine being turbo happy then you will be fucked off.
id stay well clear of them mate not worth it unless you got the know how and money to put into it, dont wanna be buying some cheap setup and advertising some dude for your car to go pop.
deadmetal
02-05-2008, 12:40 PM
save up about £6000, make that £7000, to shove the extra stuff you really do need (reverse, big brake pack) and take the car to z cars. Turbod hyabussa engine the back, up to 400bhp, 0-60 = 3.3 secs

Dude.. just to pick your nose for a minute...
Wtf is the difference between VTS and Vtr?.. and how much should a well modded vts set me back?
Vtr is a 1.6 8v, 98 bhp as standard
Vts is a 1.6 16v, has got 122 bhp
VTS' are alot more expensive on insurance though, alot companies wont insure under 21's on a VTS :/
I would have got a VTS if i could afford the cover mate.
Matty
02-26-2008, 11:01 PM
Get a VTR and give it some mild cams. It'll be faster than a standard VTS. Re-map it + 4-1 Manifold + Straight through exhaust + BMC CDA = Alot faster than a standard VTS.

We used to have the Red TDi Bora.
The main reason behind me getting a Golf.
Seen a twin turbo + 'Cooler kit :) And lower comp pistons :)
I'd be able to push 400 horses.
Fast much?

Completey ripped that phrase.
Lets see,
Insurance on a 2.0 Petrol Turbo = £1000's
Insurance on a 2.0 Diesel Turbo on which I can see well over 200bhp = £650 fully comp.
I sure know which one I'd pick.
Come back when you can drive.

This is my car on the Sax-p stand at FCS
Was a great day, got to meet everyone from sax-p and there was over 100 saxo's from our club on the stand space, was excellent!
I could have had track time but I didnt want to risk it as I had a 3 hour trip home and would be fucked if I spanked it one.

LOL at Outlaw Lane, I laughed big time at that xD
As for chavs, there were a few, but alot of just normal people, it was all good though mega laughs!
Im friggin shattered though, got back from the Algarve 5pm-sh on Saturday, left for FCS at 3am Sunday, walked round all day and then drove back.
I wish my car had been cleaner tbh, start of drive down was wet though, so spray etc fooked my chances of cleanest car.
The White VTS next to me won runner up of cleanest Saxo in the show, he got multiple buckets of water from the loo's and was cleaning his car and engine bay for about 2 hours before the show opened for the public.
