Rightily ho, this is how things are.
Using MSN Messenger version 7.5, got a pop-up from the program itself about updates. Figured it might be a good idea to update, been getting the message for a while.
So I did.
All ran ok, opened Messenger and went to type in my e-mail address, and it was oddly slow to type in, finally did it and I typed in my password. Got a message saying couldn't connect because of firewall difficulty, so I went off round Microsoft sites to find out about firewalls.
That fecked up when I found I needed Service Pack 2.
Simple eh? Install SP2 and try again?
Don't be daft, this is Microsoft..
I ended up at this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
I clicked the "Download SP2" thing and it took me through some crap about installing some updates, which I did, told me to restart. Did that too.
I thought it had been done, so I started Messenger again but got the same. So I uninstalled it. Then redownloaded it. Now when I clicky the exe on my desktop, I get some crap about "MSN Messenger setup was not able to run due to a system error"
Back to the site and download, it skipped through the download, telling me that I had it, then told me to click for updates, so I did, and it was the downloader for the same fucking thing. It just kept going back round in a circle.
Anyone got any ideas? I'm not going to e-mail Microsoft, 'cause then I just get some stupid crap from an automated reply system.
Cheers
